Domicilium are pleased to
announce that we have completed the implementation of the
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) giving our Internet and hosting
customers an unrivalled level of resilience.
Domicilium already have backbone feeds from two top
level providers but with BGP all our clients are automatically
protected from network failures from either provider.
Phil Adcock, Technical
Director said “The completion of our BGP implementation
allows us to offer a truly world class service which can
compete head on with global players such as BT, Cable and
Wireless and UUNet. We
are the only Island based ISP that is connected to the
Internet via two independent backbone providers and BGP means
that our customers stay on-line if one of these providers
fail. It was one
of the building blocks missing from the Isle of Man in
comparison with other jurisdictions and it is an enormous
credit to our technical team that we have successfully
complete this complex task.
We are also now an Internet Registry which confirms our
presence on the global internet map.
As an Internet Register we can issue our own
independent Internet (IP) addresses”.
Commenting on the
introduction of the new service, Robin Fallaize, Sales Manager
said, “We believe BGP is a fundamental quality standard for
an international hosting company and business ISP.
We are experiencing significant growth in all areas of
our business and we are very pleased that this level of
resilience is now available to all customers.
We would also like to thank all of our customers for
their patience during the changes to becoming an Internet
Registry.”
