How our AV and SPAM service works - customers with their own mail server

Anti-Virus

Email is scanned by our state of the art virus scanning software which is automatically updated with any new definitions.  Viruses are deleted before they ever reach your own mail server.  

SPAM  

Our SPAM filter scans every email attempting to be sent your mail server verifying the legitimacy of the email and determining the likelihood of the email containing SPAM.

Option 1 - Tagging and filtering

Emails identified as potentially being SPAM emails are tagged "****SPAM****" in the subject line and then forwarded to your mail server as usual.

These SPAM emails can then be easily identified by yourself and perhaps either deleted following review or automatically quarantined using Rules in your email software.  

Option 2 - Automatic deletion

Email identified as SPAM are stopped by our scanning software at our server, quarantined for 7 days then deleted.  The SPAM is never delivered to the end user dramatically reducing the amount of SPAM through your mail server and in your mail boxed.

If you suspects an email has been quarantined in error then it can be retrieved by our Helpdesk within the 7 days.

Option 3 - Managed deletion

Email identified as SPAM are stopped by our scanning software, quarantined to a quarantine mail box on our servers which you can then manage independent of ourselves. SPAM never reaches your mail server.

Email in quarantine mail boxes are held for 7 days and then automatically deleted.
