I come from a professional photographic family background and enjoyed an early career in professional photography after leaving school. Despite changing careers, I maintained my interest in the visual medium and especially film photography / cinematography. I have been an avid viewer and collector of films since my early teens, and have naturally been watching movies for much longer than that. I grew up on the old black and white horror films and classic B-movies and developed quite a passion for the horror genre overall but I am a multi-genre fan with wide ranging tastes. I own an extensive and comprehensive collection of movies from years of collecting. Growing up watching a cinematic cocktail of Hong Kong and Asian cinema, Horror, fantasy and a hefty dose of Sci-Fi, has afforded me with a diverse range of tastes.
I am a black belt martial arts exponent with in excess of 20 years cross training experience and a former fitness instructor. My martial arts background has obviously given me more than a passing interest in Asian and martial arts cinema and somewhat of an advantage when critiquing that genre. I also have a passion for books and comics (which I have been reading since I was a child), maintaining a reasonable collection of special and collector editions.
