Roj Blake

Profile:
Leader of an underground revolutionary faction Roj Blake was captured in a Federation raid, which massacred all of his followers. Brainwashed he was released back into society as a model citizen. Unfortunately by accident he witnesses another massacre of dissidents and this forces he old memories to return. Unable to brainwash him again he is branded a Pedophile by the corrupt Federation judicial system, and sentenced to life on the remote prison planet of Cynus Alpha.

On the flight he meets fellow prisoners Kerr Avon, Vila Restal, Jenna Stannis and Olag Gan and they engineered an escape plot. This ends with them onboard a powerful alien spaceship they call the Liberator. He becomes the leader of the ragtag bunch of ex criminals and from here Blake is able to start to realise his dream of destroying the Federation.

The fight goes with mixed success until he confronts his archenemy Travis while trying to destroy the computer complex on Star one. He then realises that the Federation has been hiding a secret that it has been protecting the people from alien invaders. His battle with Travis destroys the protective barrier and lets the alien invasion fleet in. The last we see of Blake for years is him leading the liberator in a desperate holding action against this fleet.

The next time Blake appears he is a changed man. Scared and battered he is operating as a mercenary. Has he abandoned his quest to destroy the federation or is this just his latest plan? Unfortunately we will never know as he was killed by Avon who believed Blake had betrayed him.

Kerr Avon

Profile:
As devious and self-serving as he is intelligent Kerr Avon is a dangerous man. He is captured after pulling of the biggest computer bank heist in Federation history. He would have got away but was betrayed by his best friend and he lost the love of his life in the process. This left Avon cold and distrustful of others.

He joins Blake on the Liberator and will stay as long as it serves his purpose, but he has no lofty ideals and doesn't agree with Blake’s battle against the Federation. However for now he needs Blake to keep him safe and Blake needs him for his computer skills.

Things change when Blake is lost during the battle with the alien invasion fleet. Avon is now the leader. Unfortunately he quickly finds the only way to survive is to continue Blake’s fight. Not wishing to lead the revolution (mealy engineer it) he never gives up his search for Blake.

Eventually he tracks Blake down to the planet Gauda Prime only for Servalan to spring a trap on both of them. Believing it was Blake that set him up he kills him. The future of Avon after this is unsure, many believe the Federation troopers killed him, but there are rumours that he survived.

Vila Restal

Profile:
Vila is a thief, and a darn good one at that. There is no lock he can't open. He is also smart but is careful to hide it, as when he was young he soon realised that being smart made you a target. To others he appears a fool, an image he is happy to reinforce. However he doe have one major character flaw and that is that he is the galaxy's largest coward.

Captured by the Federation he helps Blake escape and joins his crew for the protection it offers. He finds Blake’s love of revolution foolhardy in the extreme and often countenances against any plan of action that doesn't involve getting drunk, gambling, or having a good time.

When Blake leaves he stays and while he doesn’t like Avon’s bulling ways he understands the respect they have for each other. Avon unlike the others and especially Tarrant (who Vila hates), can see his true self past his foolish persona.

After the final confrontation between Blake and Avon it is not known what happen to Vila, but bearing in mind Vila's huge self-preservation motivation it is guessed that he survived

Cally

Profile:
A cloned telepath from the planet Auron Cally met Blake on Saurian Major where she had been fighting as part of a guerrilla resistance unit. Unfortunately all of the other members of the team had been killed and she considered herself a failure.

She joined the crew of the Liberator and remained part of the crew until it was destroyed. She was killed shortly afterwards when Servalan booby-trapped the base on Terminal.

Jenna Stannis

Profile:
Jenna is an expert pilot. She was operating as a very successful smuggler when the Federation finally caught up with her. She was sentenced to imprisonment on Cynus Alpha but escaped joined Blake's crew. Her piloting and space combat skills proved invaluable to the crew of the liberator along with her calmness in stressful situations.

Jenna was badly injured during action that repulsed the alien invasion, and was jettisoned in a life pod. She is believed to have been picked up by a hospital ship, but nothing has been heard from her since.

Olag Gan

Profile:
Olag Gan is a giant of a man and a convicted murderer. He killed a Federation trooper that had murdered his wife. Viewed as a danger the Federation fitted him with a limiter chip, which made him unable to kill again. He joined the crew of the Liberator when they rescued him from Cynus Alpha prison colony.

Gan was a gentle giant but immensely strong, a fact that nearly proved fatal when his limiter malfunctioned and he tried to kill the crew. Gan was fearlessly loyal to Blake and followed him in the assault on central control. He was killed during the assault when a tunnel collapsed, a fact that Blake never really forgave himself for.

Zen

Profile:
Semi-sentient ships computer of the Liberator, Zen is of alien manufacture. His attempts to provide helpful information to the crew are strictly limited by unknown alien programming that even Avon has been unable to decode.

Zen was destroyed along with Liberator when Avon flew it trough a cloud of space parasites that devoured the ship.

Orac

Profile:
Orac is possibly the most advanced computer ever invented. It was created by computer genius Ensor. He designed it to solve research problems, and Orac is aided in this by its ability to access any Federation computer at will. It is so advanced that it is capable of limited statcastic productions (the ability to predict future events).

A dying Ensor gave Orac to Blake, and apart from the Liberator it is the one thing that Servalan will do anything to possess. It is programmed with the personality of its creator which makes it eccentric rude and to be occasionally less than helpful. The only one who truly understands Orac is Avon.

Del Tarrant

Profile:
Tarrant is a star ship pilot trained at the Federation military academy. After getting caught up in the alien invasion battle he ended up aboard the Liberator masquerading as a Federation captain. After helping Avon retake the ship he joined the crew as the pilot, a natural replacement for Jenna.

Tarrant does always play well with others, and especially Vila who he considers stupid. This has led to a number of confrontations with both Vila and Avon.

His current where abouts are unknown but was last seen injured during the crash of Scorpio on Guada Prime. Many believe that he is now dead.

Dayna Mellanby

Profile:
Dayna is the daughter of the famous rebel leader Hal Mellanby (a man second only to Blake on the Federations most wanted list). Four most of her child hood and adolescence she lived with him in hiding. During this time she became an expert in weapons and close combat. Her life changed when survivors of the galactic war landed on Sarran the planet of her hiding place. These survivors included Avon and Servalan the later killed her father.

With her father dead Dayna left with Avon, having gained a lust for revenge against Servalan. She joined the crew and developed a number of new weapons for their use. She was finally killed on Gauda Prime.

Soolin

Profile:
Soolin was born on Guada Prime. An Orphan, her parents were killed when Guada Prime was made a free planet, little else is known about her other than she is one of the most deadly hired guns in the galaxy. She encountered the others when Dorain rescued them after the liberator was destroyed. Her current contract with Dorian ended when Avon killed him. She then joined the crew, where her ability as a crack shot has been invaluable.

It is not known what happened to Soolin after the crew returned to Gauda Prime.

Slave

Profile:
After the Liberator was destroyed the crew where rescued by Dorian in his ship the Scorpio. This heavily modified space freighter had a meekly subservient computer called Slave. Slave is not very powerful nor of much help.

Servalan \ Sleer

Profile:
Power, greed, and ambition are what drive Servalan. This incredibly tough, beautiful, intelligent, and deadly woman was the supreme commander of the Federations armed forces. She was only answerable to the president and the high counsel.

The galactic war was the only excuse she needed as she did away with both the president and high counsel and declared herself president. The only thorn in her side was the continual existence of Blake and the Liberator. Using Blake as bait she finally tricked Avon out of the Liberator, unfortunately it was already damaged beyond repair. She barely escaped with her life as the Liberator disintegrated.

With Servalan missing the counsel regained control of the federation and Servalan became a wanted person. Knowing this she craftily changed identities and commenced a bid to retake power using the assumed name of Councilor Sleer. She also persued her revenge against Avon, using Blake once again to set a trap for him on Gauda Prime.

She is currently still operating as Sleer biding her time to regain control of the Federation. This shouldn't take long as her enemies have a nasty habit of dying.

Travis

Profile:
Space Commander Travis is a tough career soldier. He will follow any order to the letter no matter how brutal the order is. He was the commander that ambushed and massacred Blake’s followers in the original rebellion. However in the process he was shot by Blake and badly wounded losing a hand and an eye. From this he has developed a deep hatred of Blake, a hatred that has to be quenched at any cost.

Servalan realised that this factor would be useful in her attempt to capture Blake so she made Travis leader of the many attempts to get him, and thus providing a scapegoat if things went wrong. Which they did, and so Travis was put on trial by the Federation. Although found guilty Servalan let him escape during an attack by Blake.

Travis was now a loose cannon all be it one that Servalan could monitor. Travis chased Blake down to the planet Star One where he betrayed his race and deactivated the minefield for the alien invasion fleet in return for they letting him kill Blake. He did ambush Blake and wounded him, but Avon killed him before he could finish the job of killing Blake. However the minefield had been deactivated and thus Travis was responsible for the galactic war.
