Islandfax
launches Fax over IP service
Following
successful trials which started in
Barbados during June 2000. Islandfax
are pleased to announce the Fax over IP service is now live and can
offer clients over 30% saving on fax transmission costs.
Extensive testing of
software and data communication providers was undertaken prior to
implementing the international fax solution.
Islandfax’s system
utilizes the Internet to transport international faxes from the
country of origin to the destination country. Islandfax’s service
relies on a store-and-forward process
bypassing the local telephone company and the traditional
point-to-point telephone system for international calls and
resulting in savings on the cost of international transmissions.
The sender and receiver of
the fax, which is encrypted for security purposes, continue to use
their fax machine as they always have. Typical delay time for a
two-page fax from origination to delivery is less than three
minutes.
Client response has been
positive and Islandfax expects to have over 200 clients in Barbados
by June 2001. Islandfax intends supplying the Fax over the Internet
service to other islands in the Caribbean.
